On Monday I reported on how the AI boom has led to data centres popping up all over Australia, and their insatiable thirst for water and electricity.

I mentioned the concerned coalition of industry, union, environmental and community groups that are asking the government to create new standards — with a focus on resource usage and transparency. That full story here.

To learn a bit more, yesterday I spoke to the Carbon Zero Initiative’s Alexander Hoysted, who wrote the proposal now sitting on the desks of Industry Minister Tim Ayres and Assistant Minister for Science, Technology and the Digital Economy, Andrew Charlton.

Puerto Rican rapper and singer Bad Bunny performed to nearly 90,000 people over the weekend at Sydney’s Olympic Park, but how much did he make? Today I did some back-of-the-envelope maths to try and work it out.
