⏱️This edition of the National Account’s newsletter is a four-minute read.

👋 G’day everyone, Archie here.

I’ve got some exciting stuff in the works for you this week, starting off today with an interview with the West Vic Brolga’s Zara Cuthbertson, so let’s crack into it 🗞️.

[Barnaby Joyce] was very much targeting this idea of, remember the good old days…Just that false sense of nostalgia, I think was their main kind of pitch.

The West Vic Brolga’s Zara Cuthbertson on Barnaby Joyce’s pitch to farmers in regional Victoria

🗣️ Why did she say that?

A week ago, Zara was at a conference hosted by the Across Victoria Alliance, an event Premier Jacinta Allan labelled a “misinformation convention”, and from which state opposition leader Jess Wilson withdrew at the last minute due to “scheduling conflicts”.

One Nation’s Barnaby Joyce was there, however, and he spoke with Zara - her full story here.

Today, she also spoke with Liberal MP for Wannon, Dan Tehan, who last week failed in his bid to become deputy Liberal leader, losing to Senator Jane Hume.

I asked Zara about her conversations with both men, and the TLDR is: it sounded like a lot of dribble.
