⏱️This edition of the National Account’s newsletter is a four-minute read.

👋 G’day everyone, Archie here.

In today’s newsletter, I’ve got some advice for renters which could be boiled down to transfer your bond!

So, let’s dive into it 🏡

It is messy and that's a pretty common circumstance in share housing

Tenants Union NSW CEO Leo Patterson Ross, talking about rental bonds, on properties listed through sites like Facebook Marketplace

🗣️ Why did he say that?

With the state of Australian housing the way it is, you feel lucky just to have a roof over your head, at a certain point wether every single i is dotted, and t is crossed becomes irrelevant, especially when it comes to share housing.

But not having all the correct paperwork signed can bite you in the ass, as it did for me this month with my bond.

What happens when the bond isn’t in your name, and your lease it coming to an end?

for me it required a trip to the New South Wales Civil and Administrative Tribunal, something that sounds a lot more scary than it actually is.

Incase you missed it 🛩️

Last week I told you about Australia’s second ever plane hijacking Ansett Flight 232.

The flight from Adelaide to Alice Springs, was hijacked in 1972 by a man whose identity remained a mystery for months.

A police officer was shot trying to disarm him.

And the flight crew talked the hijacker into landing by secretly adjusting the fuel gauge.

How did police find out who the hijacker was?

Thanks for catching up with me. Would love to hear your feedback on these Aussie history dives that I’ve been doing over the last couple of weeks 👋

I’ll be back on Wednesday.

Cheers, Archie
