This is a dog of an industry that makes no money for the taxpayer, and in fact costs the taxpayer a lot. It has a big impact on climate change, a big impact on fire, a big impact on biodiversity. It's nonsense that it's still going.
🗣️ Why did he say that?
Australia's native forests are being logged at a rate of 715,000 rugby fields a year, and most of it isn't even turned into timber.
The industry costs taxpayers billions, employs relatively few people, and according to the scientists studying it, makes forests more flammable.
So why does it keep going?
For my rundown check out the below:
My full conversation with Professor Lindenmayer will be live later this week.
Incase you missed it 🤓
Last week I had a chat with the creators behind Instagram account Toilet Paper Australia.
Admins Raushaan Seychell and Caitlin Lannoy give me the rundown on how the account started, how they verify what they post, why they refuse to take money from political parties, and whether they think they're actually changing anyone's mind. You can watch the full 20 min chat here.
Or just a snippet below about wether they consider themselves journalists.

Cheers for catching up with me we’ve got some exciting stuff in the pipeline this week so I look forward to bringing it to you. If you have any feedback just reply to this email.👋
I’ll be back on Wednesday.
Cheers, Archie
