👋 G’day everyone, Archie here.
I told you I would have some interesting guests on the show this week and I’m glad I can provide the first: Outspoken Labor MP Ed Husic.

If the idea is to give me a job to shut me up, I'm not interested in that job
🗣️ Why did he say that?
Ed Husic was a cabinet minister until factional reshuffling after the 2025 election sent him to the backbench.
Since then, he's been harder to ignore than most of the people who replaced him, vocal on issues like the gas tax, AI data centres and One Nation.
I decided to quiz him on these issues and ask if he thinks being so outspoken will impact any future within the Labor government

In other news:
Half of rental properties in Australia have an outstanding maintenance issue. A change to negative gearing rules might actually fix that.
One in ten renters in Australia live in homes needing urgent fixes. So how come your landlord says they can't afford to do anything about it?
Negative gearing has encouraged landlords to borrow more than they can actually afford with the tax system subsidising the shortfall.
As a result, many don't have the cash flow to maintain the properties they're renting out.
According to Leo Patterson Ross from the NSW Tenants Union, the government's recent changes to negative gearing could actually mean your landlord has less of an excuse for not fixing things.

I’ll be back on Friday.
Cheers, Archie
