The federal Health Department has confirmed there’s currently no exemption in tobacco advertising laws for historic race cars.

A Labor MP who co-chairs the Parliamentary Friends of Motorsport says she supports one, and has started reaching out to Motorsport Australia.

The government consulted on the new laws twice, and nobody raised the historic paint job issue.
